DIFC Art Nights

I grew up in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. In late 90s we were surrounded by "kiosk invasion”. At that time the Kiosk was offering you a wide range on consumer goods. From walkmen, deodorants, sausages, cigarettes, stockings to chocolate, chewing gum and toy guns. Kiosks were a center for all necessities when you were a teenager.

These two cuboids represent my very personal kiosk which sells beauty. Regeneration between Europe and UAE, between beauty standards then and now. One wheel is the inspiration of the wooden kiosk-trolley from Arabian Souk. It represents Dubai’s movement. My four paintings fixed on the cuboids are questioning todays meaning of our mental and physical balance as a human being.

"Kill me, but make me beautiful" - today we are buying new noses, adjusting lips, sliming the legs, lift our faces, adjusting our other body parts...I'm questioning the obsession to be perfect, beautiful and immortal. I see it as a beautiful colorful toxic pain.
